Catalog 803 is Here!

New 44-page catalog is available in September.

TSM is very happy to announce the publication of its latest catalog. "We know this will help answer a lot of questions about our products," said Pam Watts, VP Sales. The catalog has been a long time in the making. "We actually had to enlarge the catalog twice to accommodate our growing line - it has mushroomed from 36 to 40 and finally to 44 pages," she added. "It could have easily been even larger but we felt it was imperative to make it available as soon as possible."
The company's previous catalog was 802, which combined color pages with technical data. Although 803 is packed with specs, drawings, color photos and useful details, it is not in lieu of technical data, which will be updated in 1997.
The numbering system for TSM's catalogs began in 1966 with #774, which was the number of the LST (Landing Ship Tank) that President Cliff Huntley commanded the last two years of WWII in the Pacific. "I always think of that LST as being a happy ship," said Cliff. "Everyone got along well and there was a real spirit of cooperation. So it seemed only fitting that we would begin our catalog numbers with 774!" Cliff has been the Chairman of the Board since 1988.
If you have received a copy of this newsletter, you will receive a copy of 803 along with a letter to fax back to us indicating how many extra copies you would like.

New Colors

In Powdercoating, Shower Seat Cushions and Curtains

There are some great colors in the new catalog! They are available in powdercoating, shower seat cushions and curtains, so you will have many coordinated design options available.
Here is the new palette: White Almond Parchment Light mocha Taupe Rosy Taupe Wheat Palomino Nutmeg Vanilla Navy Slate Blue Gray Seafoam Green Forest Green Verdigris Turquoise Pink Red Black
Be sure to check out the shower seat pages to see some terrific combinations of powdercoated and plated frames with colored cushions and phenolic in woodgrain and ivory. There are photos of frames and cushions in almond, parchment and verdigris; a forest green frame with woodgrain slats; and plated frames in black nickel with ivory slats, bright copper with woodgrain slats and bright brass with a navy cushion.
Powdercoating can be applied to most TSM products including grab bars, shower seats, towel bars, hooks and many more. It is not recommended for products intended for heavy abuse such as corner guards.
Extra copies of the Color Coordinates' page in Catalog 803 are available upon request. Ask anyone in customer service to send them to you at no charge.

Grab Bars Presented According to Use

In the new catalog, grab bars are conveniently presented according to use. For example, toilet bars are shown separately from bathtub bars. This will make it much easier to quickly locate the bar you need.
It's also easy to modify your bars now, too. Almost any TSM bar can be modified, and several popular bars even have specific instructions encouraging you to create your own custom bar by changing dimensions. All you need to do is let a customer service rep know which dimensions you prefer and we'll rush a quote for them right back to you.

New Picket Rail Meets ADA

TSM has long wrestled with the challenge of how to provide a convenient stainless steel picket rail component system, and we are happy to say that we have a great answer for you that is detailed in the new catalog. The new StainlessConnect 550 Picket Rail complies with building code requirements calling for the maximum opening in a rail to prevent a sphere of 4" or greater passing through them.
The picket rail system was designed by Custom Foreman Leon Ochoa, who has been with the company since 1966. "We are frequently asked to provide solutions to difficult field conditions," Leon explained. "It is from our experience in trying to help customers who need an adaptable picket rail that this system developed. It can even accommodate slopes."

Company Picnic

The annual company picnic is Saturday, September 7 at the Redondo Beach Seaside Lagoon. Rose Crouthamel, who has been in TSM's customer service department since 1979, graciously agreed to be the Picnic Coordinator. Everyone is looking forward to a fun day in the sun filled with great activities that she has planned including volleyball, trampolines (which were a great hit last year!), a water balloon toss contest and, of course, swimming in the beautiful lagoon. The mouth-watering lunch menu features BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad, baked beans, rolls and lemonade. Dessert is vanilla ice cream.
As is the annual custom, plaques will be given out celebrating years of service to the company. This year we are proud to award 12 employees as follows: 3 for 5 years 2 for 10 years 2 for 15 years 3 for 20 years 1 for 25 years 1 for 30 years

Funnies

From Richard Lederer's upcoming book, Fractured English, come the following student bloopers:
"It is truly astonishing what happens to Bible stories when they are retold by young scholars around the world.
In the first book of the Bible, Guinessis, God got tired of creating the world, so he took the Sabbath off. Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree. Noah's wife was called Joan of Ark. Noah built an ark, which the animals came onto in pears. Lot's wife was a pillar of salt by day, but a ball of fire by night.
Samson was a strongman who let himself be led astray by a Jezebel like Delilah. Samson slayed the Philistines with the axe of the apostles.
David was a Hebrew king skilled at playing the liar. He fought with the Finkelsteins, a race of people who lived in Biblical times. Solomon, one of David's sons, had 300 wives and 700 porcupines."
